Ngiyabonga — A Thank You From My Heart By KOYO

Ngiyabonga — A Thank You From My Heart
By KOYO
“Ngiyabonga” means thank you in Zulu. This song is very special to me, not only as music, but as a message from my heart. I chose this name because gratitude is the feeling that best describes my journey — a journey that truly began in Durban, South Africa, in 2021.
When I first visited South Africa, I did not know that trip would change my life. I came with curiosity, but I left with inspiration, purpose, and love for a culture that welcomed me like family. The energy, the people, the rhythm of the streets, the warmth of the community — everything touched my soul. Most importantly, that trip introduced me to Amapiano, a sound that spoke to me deeply and later became the foundation of my DJ and producer career.

Since that first visit, South Africa has never left my heart. Almost every year, I return — sometimes alone, sometimes with my family — to reconnect with the culture, the music, and the spirit that gave me a new direction in life. Every visit feels like coming home. I always leave with new memories, new inspiration, and more love for the people who embraced me from day one. I already look forward to my next trip.
This song, Ngiyabonga, is my way of saying thank you to everyone who played a role in my journey.
First, a very special thank you to Z — the first person who introduced me to Amapiano. Without you, this path may have never opened for me. You showed me a sound, but more than that, you showed me a feeling, a culture, and a passion that became part of my identity. Sadly, Z is no longer with us. She has gone to be with the Lord. But her impact lives on through me, through this music, and through every step I take in this journey. May her beautiful soul rest in peace. This song carries a piece of her spirit.

Another heartfelt thank you goes to my dear Mandisa. During a time when South Africa was facing political unrest and uncertainty, you opened your home to me. You welcomed me, you cooked for me, you shared your culture, your traditions, and your warmth. In moments where fear and tension existed outside, inside your home there was peace, love, and humanity. That kindness is something I will never forget. You showed me what true African hospitality means, and that experience will stay with me forever.

And of course, a huge thank you to KXD BEATS, the producer who helped bring Ngiyabonga to life. This track would not exist without your talent, your creativity, and your belief in the vision. Music is collaboration, and this song is proof of what happens when passion and purpose come together.

Ngiyabonga is more than just a track. It is gratitude. It is memory. It is culture. It is love. It is a reflection of my journey — from a visitor discovering a new world, to an artist shaped by that experience. To everyone who has supported me, listened to my music, encouraged me, streamed my songs, or believed in my journey — Ngiyabonga. Thank you. This is only the beginning.
